Ernesto invited graphic novelist Francisco de la Mora to his Design Justice lecture on Tuesday 10 March 2026, part of the HCID MSc at City St George's. Students learnt about their work together on comics co-design.

Francisco also focused on the work behind his latest book, The Most Amazing Saturday Morning Rubbish Club (SelfMadeHero, 2025), a graphic novel he illustrated, written by Bill Tuckey. Both Francisco and Bill have first-hand experience of parenting children with Special Needs, and therefore the book puts the lived experience of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) children at centre-stage. This talk contributed to meeting the module’s learning objectives, which include developing expertise on inclusive design and the use of speculative and narrative design methods to communicate and understand the lived experience.
