Graphic Refuge - Visuality and Mobility in Refugee Comics

You are warmly invited to the Graphic Refuge panel event with Dr Dominic Davies (City St George's Media, Culture and Creative Industries) and Dr Candida Rifkind (University of Winnipeg, Canada) on Wednesday the 19th of November, at 5pm [UK time], at City St. George's University of London.
This hybrid panel (part of MCCI's Connect: Bridging Research, Innovation, Education and Professional Practice) will celebrate the publication of Graphic Refuge with two short talks from the book's co-authors, followed by comments from two respondents, Dr Ernesto Priego (City St George's HCID) and Dr Mihaela Precup (Bucharest).
Graphic Refuge is an in-depth study of comics about refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and detainees by artists from the Global North and South. Co-written by Dom Davies and Candida Rifkind, the book explores graphic narratives about a range of refugee experiences, from war, displacement, and perilous sea crossings to detention camps, resettlement schemes, and second-generation diasporas.
There will be time for questions and discussion. The event is moderated by Dr Carolina Matos and supported by Dr Devina Sarwatay. There will be light refreshments on the day. Hope to see many of you there.
