Project Summary

Clinical audits aim to improve patient care by reviewing the performance of healthcare systems, comparing performance against explicit standards and providing feedback about how to improve. However, there are many unanswered questions about how best to deliver feedback about performance. This NIHR-funded project investigated how to give online feedback about performance of healthcare systems. We worked with healthcare practitioners in a detailed user-centred design process to create different ways of delivering feedback online. We then built a web-based platform to test the feedback options in an online experiment. Results showed interactions between the feedback options, the role of the recipient and the specific clinical audit.
